Hire a local driver by the hour to explore Dubrovnik, the Dalmatian coast, and beyond. Skip the parking nightmare, forget about navigation, and let someone who knows every hidden bay and backroad show you around.
Dubrovnik is one of the most visited cities in Europe — and one of the hardest to drive in. The Old Town is completely car-free, parking near the walls costs €10–15 per hour in summer, and the single-lane coastal road between Pile Gate and Lapad backs up daily from May through October. Cruise ship days make it worse: up to 8,000 day-trippers flood the streets before 10am.
A private driver solves all of this. You get dropped at the door of wherever you're going, picked up when you're done, and driven to spots most visitors never reach because they can't figure out where to park. Places like Trsteno Arboretum (15 minutes north, no tour buses), Lokrum Island ferry from Old Port, or the hilltop village of Ston with its ancient salt pans and oyster farms.
It's also the only practical way to cross into Montenegro or Bosnia for a day trip without dealing with rental car cross-border insurance — which most companies either don't offer or charge €50–80 extra per day. Our drivers handle borders daily and know the quiet crossings.
Each itinerary is fully customisable. Tell your driver what interests you and they'll adjust on the fly.
The most popular day trip from Dubrovnik, and for good reason. The Bay of Kotor is a fjord-like inlet surrounded by medieval towns clinging to limestone cliffs. Your driver takes you through the quiet Debeli Brijeg border crossing (faster than the coastal one), stops at Perast for the boat to Our Lady of the Rocks island, then drops you at Kotor's UNESCO old town. On the way back, many guests add a quick swim stop at Jaz Beach near Budva.
Cross into Bosnia through the Neum corridor and spend the day exploring Ottoman-era Herzegovina. Počitelj is a stone village frozen in the 16th century with a hilltop fortress. Kravica Waterfalls is Bosnia's answer to Plitvice — a 25-metre cascade you can swim under in summer. The Blagaj Tekke (Dervish monastery) sits at the mouth of an underground river, and Mostar's Stari Most bridge needs no introduction. Your driver parks outside each stop and waits — no rushing between bus schedules.
The Pelješac Peninsula is Croatia's best-kept wine secret. Start in Ston, where 5km of medieval walls guard ancient salt pans (still producing salt today). In Mali Ston, stop for fresh oysters pulled from the bay that morning. Then wind through the vineyards of Dingač and Postup — Croatia's only two protected wine appellations — tasting bold Plavac Mali reds straight from the barrel. End at Orebić for views across to Korčula island.
A shorter half-day option exploring the coast north and south of Dubrovnik. Trsteno Arboretum is a 500-year-old botanical garden (Game of Thrones filmed here) with almost no crowds. Slano is a quiet fishing village with waterfront restaurants serving grilled catch of the day. Cavtat is the Dubrovnik that Dubrovnik used to be — pretty, walkable, uncrowded — with the Bukovac museum and Račić Mausoleum. Your driver can also drop you at Gruž port for the Elaphiti island ferry.

Hourly hire starts from €35–45/hour for a sedan (up to 3 passengers). Minivans for larger groups start from €50/hour. Full-day hires (8+ hours) get a better rate. Cross-border trips to Montenegro or Bosnia have a small surcharge (€20–30) for insurance and permits.
Absolutely — it's our most popular request. The Bay of Kotor is about 2 hours each way. Our drivers cross this border daily and handle all the formalities. You'll need your passport. EU/UK/US/Canadian citizens don't need a visa for Montenegro.
Anywhere in the Dubrovnik area. If you're in the Old Town, we meet you at Pile Gate or Ploče Gate (cars can't enter). For Lapad, Babin Kuk, or Gruž, we come to your hotel door. Cruise ship guests are met at Gruž port.
For 2+ people sharing, often yes — once you add rental fees (€40–70/day), fuel, parking (€50+ in a Dubrovnik summer day), tolls, insurance, and cross-border surcharges. Plus you get a local who knows every shortcut and scenic pullover.
No problem. One-way hourly hires are a great option. For example, spend the morning sightseeing along the coast and end your day in Kotor, Split, or Mostar instead of returning to Dubrovnik.
Yes, all our drivers are fluent English speakers. Many also speak Italian, German, or French. They're locals who know the history, the restaurants, and the hidden spots — they're driver-guides, not just chauffeurs.
“We hired a driver for a day trip to Montenegro. He knew exactly where to stop for photos, which restaurants were tourist traps, and got us through the border in 5 minutes while the bus queue was 45 minutes long.”
“Best decision of our Croatia trip. Our driver took us to Ston for oysters and then to three wineries on Pelješac. We'd never have found them on our own.”
“With two kids under 5, having a driver was a lifesaver. Car seats ready, flexible schedule, and he even recommended a beach with shallow water perfect for toddlers.”
