About the Dubrovnik to Split transfer

The Dubrovnik to Split coastal drive passes through some of Dalmatia's finest scenery. The route crosses the Pelješac Peninsula (connected by the new Pelješac Bridge, eliminating the old Neum border corridor hassle), passes through Ston — famous for its medieval walls and fresh oysters — and continues along the Makarska Riviera before arriving at Diocletian's Palace. Many travellers add a stop at Ston for oysters or a quick swim at one of the Makarska beaches.

Route FAQ

Dubrovnik to Split questions

Everything specific to this route.

How long does the Dubrovnik to Split transfer take?

+

The direct drive is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes (230 km). With a stop at Ston for oysters and the walls, add 30–45 minutes. A wine tasting on Pelješac adds another 30 minutes. Most guests do the trip in about 4–4.5 hours.

Do I still cross through Bosnia on this route?

+

Not anymore. The Pelješac Bridge (opened 2022) bypasses the Neum corridor entirely. The whole journey stays within Croatia—no passport needed, no border stops, no delays. This shaved about 30 minutes off the old route.

Can you drop me at Split Airport for my flight?

+

Absolutely. Split Airport (SPU) is right along the route, 25 km before Split city. We can drop you at departures at no extra cost. For a late evening flight, we recommend leaving Dubrovnik in the early afternoon so you arrive at SPU with plenty of time.

Can I catch the ferry to Hvar from Split?

+

Yes—we can drop you directly at Split's ferry port (Trajektna Luka). Ferries to Hvar run multiple times daily, and the last catamaran is usually around 5–6 PM in summer. We recommend a morning departure from Dubrovnik if you're connecting to a ferry.

What time should I leave Dubrovnik?

+

A 9–10 AM departure gives you time for a Ston oyster stop and still arrive in Split by early afternoon. If you're catching a ferry or flight, work backwards from your departure time and add 4 hours. We operate 24/7.

Is Pelješac wine tasting worth the detour?

+

If you enjoy wine, absolutely. The Pelješac Peninsula produces Dingač and Postup, Croatia's most prized red wines. Several wineries offer quick tastings (30 minutes, €10–15 per person). Your driver knows which ones are open and welcoming to drop-in visitors.
