Quick answer

Kravica Waterfalls is a 25-metre cascade 40 minutes south of Mostar. €8 entry, swimming May–September. Go early (before 10am) to avoid tour buses. Best combined with a Počitelj stop on a private transfer between Dubrovnik and Mostar.

Kravica is Bosnia’s most popular natural attraction — a wide horseshoe waterfall dropping 25 metres into a pool surrounded by lush vegetation. It looks like a smaller Plitvice but with swimming allowed and a fraction of the crowds.

Swimming

From May to September the pool below the falls is open for swimming. The water is cold (river-fed) but refreshing in summer heat. You can swim right up to the base of the falls. There’s a pebbly beach area and grassy spots for sunbathing. Bring a towel and swimwear.

When to go

Before 10am. Tour buses from Mostar and Dubrovnik arrive between 10am and 2pm, and the small site gets crowded. Early morning or late afternoon is best. The falls are most impressive in spring (April–June) when water levels are highest. By late August the flow can weaken.

Facilities

There’s a restaurant/café at the entrance, changing rooms, and basic toilets. Bring your own food and water if you want to save money. No lockers — keep valuables minimal.

Getting there

Kravica is 40 minutes south of Mostar by car, off the road towards Ljubuški. There’s no public transport — you need a car, taxi, or private transfer. Best option: combine Kravica as a stop on a Dubrovnik-to-Mostar or Split-to-Mostar transfer. We stop here on request — it adds about 60–90 minutes to the journey.

Combine with Počitelj

The medieval fortress village of Počitelj is 15 minutes from Kravica on the road to Mostar. An easy combination — swim at Kravica, then explore Počitelj’s stone tower and mosque. Both are standard stops on our Dubrovnik-to-Mostar transfers.

Tips

The path down to the falls is steep — wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet. The rocks around the pool are slippery. There’s a second, smaller waterfall upstream (Kravica 2) that few tourists visit — ask locally for directions.

Getting to Mostar

Mostar connects to Dubrovnik (2.5h), Split (2.5h), and Sarajevo (2h) by private transfer. Kravica is an easy en-route stop.
