Traveling the other way? Mostar to Dubrovnik is the same route in reverse—same price, same scenic stops, same great service.
Book Mostar → Dubrovnik →This is our most-booked route and one of the Balkans’ most famous single-day experiences. Dubrovnik to Mostar is the trip that introduces most travellers to Bosnia and Herzegovina — 140 km of coastal and inland scenery, ending at the Ottoman bridge that earned Mostar its UNESCO World Heritage status. The majority of bookings are round-trip day visits: depart Dubrovnik around 8:00, spend 3–4 hours in Mostar, back by early evening. One-way bookings and overnight stays are common too.
Your driver heads north from Dubrovnik along the Adriatic Highway (D8), threading through the Neum corridor — Bosnia and Herzegovina’s only 20-kilometre stretch of coastline, a quirk of Ottoman-era border drawing. After the second Croatian border, the road turns inland up the Neretva valley, cutting through limestone cliffs that define southern Herzegovina’s geography. Two of our most popular stops sit along the way: Počitelj, a preserved 15th-century Ottoman fortress village cascading down a hillside about 35 km before Mostar, and Kravica Waterfalls, a 25-metre horseshoe fall 15 km southwest of Mostar where swimming is possible June–September.
Summer (June–August) is peak — expect Mostar’s Old Town to be crowded with cruise-ship day-trippers between 11:00 and 15:00. Early departures (7:00–8:00 AM Dubrovnik pickup) reach Mostar before the crowds and give you a chance to watch the local divers’ ritual from Stari Most. April–May and September–October are our favourite windows: mild weather, fewer tourists, and Kravica at its best in late spring. November–March the Kravica swimming closes but the Old Bridge, bazaar, and surrounding sights stay open year-round.
Border queues at Neum can hit 20–45 minutes on summer weekends; your driver knows the less-used inland Metković crossing if queues get bad at the coast.
Mostar’s Old Town is small and walkable — you can see Stari Most, the Ottoman bazaar on both sides of the river, the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque (best Old Bridge view in the city), and the riverbanks in 2–3 hours. For lunch, Šadrvan and Food House Mostar are consistent local recommendations. Our driver drops you at the nearest road access point since the Old Town lanes are pedestrian-only. For a half-day trip three hours on the ground is tight but workable; for a full day (12+ hours) you can comfortably add Počitelj and Kravica and still be back in Dubrovnik by 20:00.
Public buses run twice daily Dubrovnik–Mostar and take 4–5 hours with a possible change; they skip Počitelj and Kravica, don’t let you set pace, and arrive after the best morning hours. Organised group day tours run most days at €40–60 per person but put you on a fixed schedule with 40 strangers. Rental cars work but add €50–80/day in cross-border insurance surcharges; you also handle the mountain driving and border paperwork yourself. Private transfer is door-to-door from any Dubrovnik address, paced to your preferences, fixed-price. For groups of 2–3 it often beats bus cost per person; for 4+, it’s usually cheaper than bus + day tour combined.
Everything specific to this route.
The direct drive is approximately 2 hours and 28 minutes (140 km). With a stop at Pocitelj, add 20-30 minutes. With Kravica Waterfalls, add 45-60 minutes. Most guests choose at least one stop, making the total journey 3-3.5 hours.
Citizens of the EU, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and most other Western countries do not need a visa for Bosnia & Herzegovina. You'll just need a valid passport. Your driver handles all interaction at the border checkpoint.
Morning departures (8-10 AM) are best if you want to stop at Kravica Waterfalls—you'll arrive before the crowds. For Mostar itself, arriving by early afternoon gives you time to explore the Old Town before sunset. We operate 24/7, so any time works.
Absolutely one-way. Most of our bookings on this route are one-way. You're free to book the return separately whenever you're ready, or not at all if you're continuing onward from Mostar to Sarajevo, Split, or elsewhere.
It's one of the highlights of the entire region. The falls are 25 metres wide and you can swim in the pool beneath them from May to September. Even in shoulder season, the scenery is stunning. The entrance fee is approximately €8 per person (not included in the transfer price). We strongly recommend it.

"The Dubrovnik to Mostar drive was the highlight of our Balkans trip. Stopping at Kravica Waterfalls was magical—we swam for 30 minutes while our driver waited. Arrived in Mostar feeling refreshed."
"Our driver picked us up from our Airbnb in Old Town at 8am sharp. The border crossing took 5 minutes, Pocitelj was incredible, and we were at our hotel in Mostar by noon. Money well spent over the bus."
"We were four with loads of luggage and they sent a spacious minivan. The driver was a local Herzegovinian who knew every village along the way. Can't recommend enough for this specific route."
