Your driver collects you in Ljubljana and heads north into the Julian Alps. The drive takes roughly an hour and a quarter (about 83 km), running past Bled and continuing another half hour into the mountains — a door-to-door car makes the deeper valley easy to reach in a day.
Lake Bohinj is the reason people make the trip: a glacial lake inside Triglav National Park, Slovenia's only national park, sitting beneath its highest peak, Triglav. It is bigger, wilder and much quieter than Bled — ringed by mountains and forest, better for swimming, walking and nature than sightseeing. At the eastern end, the old stone bridge and the Church of St John the Baptist make the lake's postcard corner.
Because it's private, the day is yours: ride the Vogel cable car up for Alpine panoramas over the lake and Triglav, walk to the Savica waterfall, which is a further 4–5 km by road beyond the lake's western end and then a steep stepped climb of 20–30 minutes from the car park (seasonal entry fee and paid parking), swim or stroll the shore, and set off back to Ljubljana when you're ready. Your driver waits throughout and brings you home door-to-door.
