Travnik & Jajce
Two of Bosnia’s finest medieval towns in one trip. Travnik was the Ottoman vizier’s seat — colourful mosques, a hilltop fortress, and the birthplace of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić. Jajce has a waterfall in the town centre and a medieval castle. Lunch at a trout restaurant on the Pliva Lakes.

Vrelo Bosne
The source of the Bosna river, 15 minutes from the city centre. Horse-drawn carriage ride through a tree-lined avenue to crystal-clear springs surrounded by parkland. The most peaceful half-day escape from Sarajevo. Combine with a Trebević cable car ride for a full day.

Lukomir Village
Bosnia’s highest and most isolated village at 1,469m. Stone houses, hand-woven carpets, traditional Bosnian highland life preserved for centuries. A 45-minute hike from the road to the village with views into the Rakitnica canyon. Not accessible in winter.

Visoko & the Bosnian Pyramids

Višegrad & Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge
The UNESCO-listed Ottoman bridge immortalised in Ivo Andrić’s Nobel Prize-winning novel. Višegrad sits on the Drina river at the Serbian border. A long drive but a powerful day out. Stop at Mokra Gora on the return if time allows.
