Heading to Dubrovnik? Belgrade to Dubrovnik reverses this epic route from the Danube to the Adriatic.
Book Belgrade → Dubrovnik →Dubrovnik to Belgrade is a 550-km cross-Balkans long-haul from Croatia’s UNESCO walled Adriatic city to Serbia’s capital at the confluence of the Sava and the Danube. About 8-9 hours direct via Montenegro and south-west Serbia, or via Bosnia and the Drina river route. Two border crossings (Montenegro or Bosnia transit, then Serbia). Belgrade is one of Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited cities — the Kalemegdan Fortress on the Sava-Danube confluence has Celtic, Roman, Byzantine, Bulgarian, Ottoman and Habsburg layers over 2,300 years.
Two routings. Via Montenegro: Dubrovnik south to Debeli Brijeg, through Podgorica, then east via Bijelo Polje and the Serbian border at Jabuka; then the A2 motorway to Belgrade. Via Bosnia: Dubrovnik north over the Pelješac Bridge, through Mostar and Sarajevo, then east to Višegrad (UNESCO Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge stop) and into Serbia at Uvac/Kotroman. Both 8-9 hours; our driver picks the faster option based on current border queues.
Drop-off at your address. Must-see: Kalemegdan Fortress (Roman-Byzantine-Ottoman-Habsburg layers above the confluence), St. Sava Temple (one of Europe’s largest Orthodox churches, completed 2020), Knez Mihailova pedestrian street, Skadarlija bohemian quarter, Nikola Tesla Museum, Savamala riverfront. Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport (BEG) is 18 km west. Currency: Serbian dinar (RSD); euros accepted in tourist-facing businesses.
Bus Dubrovnik–Belgrade runs overnight 12-14 hours with a Sarajevo or Podgorica change; no direct flight. Private car at 8-9 hours is the only same-day option and allows the UNESCO Višegrad bridge as a cultural stop on the Bosnia routing.
Everything specific to this route.
About 8 hours (600 km) direct. Two border crossings. With stops in Mostar and Sarajevo, plan for 9–10 hours. We recommend departing by 7–8 AM.
Yes—both are on the route. A 30–45 minute stop at each lets you see the highlights. Or choose one for a longer visit. Your driver will plan the timing.
Two—Croatia to Bosnia, then Bosnia to Serbia. Both are routine. Driver handles all documents at both crossings.
It's a full day, but our vehicles are comfortable with A/C, and water. The stops break it up nicely, and the scenery keeps changing. Many clients prefer it to multiple bus connections.
Yes. We meet you at arrivals and head straight for Belgrade. Early morning flights work best for this route.
The Kalemegdan fortress at the river confluence, Knez Mihailova pedestrian street, and Skadarlija bohemian quarter. Belgrade's nightlife is legendary too.
"Epic day. Stopped in Mostar for the Old Bridge and Sarajevo for lunch—both incredible. The scenery between Bosnia and Serbia was beautiful. Belgrade by dinner. Wouldn't change a thing."
"We chose this over flying and it was the best decision. Saw three countries, two historic cities, and arrived refreshed. Driver was excellent—professional and full of stories."
"Clean minivan, great driver, two smooth border crossings. The kids slept half the way and explored Sarajevo the other half. In Belgrade by 6 PM."
