Heading to Dubrovnik? Tivat to Dubrovnik follows the same bay road in reverse.
Book Tivat → Dubrovnik →Dubrovnik to Tivat is one of our busiest short cross-border transfers — 80 km, one border at Debeli Brijeg, around 1h 30m direct. Most bookings are flight connections: Tivat Airport (TIV) is Montenegro’s main international airport and 15 minutes from Kotor Old Town, so travellers regularly use this transfer to catch flights home after a Kotor/Budva stay, or to arrive via DBV and continue south.
Your driver leaves Dubrovnik south on the D8 past Cavtat and Dubrovnik Airport (DBV). The border at Karasovići / Debeli Brijeg takes 5–15 minutes in off-peak, 30–60 on summer Saturdays. On the Montenegrin side the road runs around Boka Kotorska via Herceg Novi and the coastal road past Kanli Kula fortress. From there drivers either continue around the full bay via Perast and Kotor (40 min, scenic) or take the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry (the 10-minute bay shortcut that saves 30–40 min and drops straight to Tivat). Most transfers in summer use the ferry for time; winter transfers stay on the coast road.
This route is busy year-round because TIV is Montenegro’s gateway airport — Lufthansa, easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air all operate seasonal routes. Peak summer Saturdays add 30–60 min to the border; we recommend pickup 4 hours before international flight departure. Winter the route is quiet and fast (1h 10m end-to-end). The Kamenari–Lepetane ferry runs 24/7 year-round at €5 per car — we absorb that cost in your transfer price.
Tivat itself is small — the town centre has transformed around Porto Montenegro marina (former Yugoslav naval base, now a luxury yacht port with restaurants and shops). Our driver drops you at your hotel, the marina, or directly at TIV departures for flights. For continuing travel: Kotor Old Town is 15 min east, Budva 25 min south, Sveti Stefan 35 min south. Many guests use Tivat as an arrival gateway, overnight at Porto Montenegro, then transfer on to their final Montenegro destination next day.
No direct bus exists — you’d change in Herceg Novi (3+ hours total). Taxis from Dubrovnik quote €80–120 one-way but don’t handle the border. Rental cars carry €50–80/day cross-border surcharges plus the Kamenari ferry fee. Private transfer is door-to-door from any Dubrovnik address to hotel, marina, or TIV terminal. For flight-connecting guests we monitor flight status and adjust pickup time if DBV arrival is delayed.
Everything specific to this route.
About 1 hour 30 minutes (80 km). One border crossing adds 5–20 minutes. With a Perast stop, plan for about 2 hours total.
Yes—it's right on the route. Walk the waterfront in 10 minutes or take a boat to Our Lady of the Rocks island (about 5 minutes each way, €5). One of the most photogenic spots in Montenegro.
One crossing from Croatia into Montenegro at Debeli Brijeg. Driver handles paperwork. EU/UK/US/CA/AU citizens enter visa-free.
Yes—Tivat Airport (TIV) is right in town, about 3 minutes from Porto Montenegro. Drop-off at departures included at no extra charge.
A luxury superyacht marina with designer shops, waterfront restaurants, and a pool club. Even if you're not staying there, it's worth a stroll along the pontoons.
Morning departures avoid border queues in summer. The bay is at its calmest and most reflective in the morning light too.
"The Bay of Kotor was jaw-dropping. Stopped in Perast and took the little boat to the island church—totally worth it. At Porto Montenegro by lunchtime."
