A fortified town at the base of the Peljesac peninsula with Europe's longest defensive walls and some of the Mediterranean's best oysters, farmed in the bay since Roman times. Half a dozen with a glass of local white cost about €10–15.
The road passes beneath the dramatic Biokovo mountain, which plunges nearly 1,800 metres straight down to the sea. Quick photo stop at one of the viewpoints along the riviera—turquoise water, white pebble beaches, and the mountain wall behind.
The motorway and coastal road carry you past the Neretva delta, through the Makarska riviera, and around the Bay of Kastela into Trogir. Islands dot the horizon the entire way.
Arrive at your hotel or apartment—the island Old Town, Ciovo island, or the mainland side. Driver drops you as close to the pedestrian zone as possible.

Heading south? Trogir to Dubrovnik follows the same coastal route in reverse.
Book Trogir → Dubrovnik →Dubrovnik to Trogir is a common variation of the Dalmatian coastal transfer — 250 km up the A1 to the UNESCO-listed island town just 5 km from Split Airport (SPU). About 3 hours direct. Since Pelješac Bridge opened in 2022 the route stays entirely within Croatia with no border crossings. Trogir is a popular drop-off for SPU-bound travellers (airport is adjacent) and for accommodations in Trogir or the Čiovo peninsula beach area.
Your driver heads north from Dubrovnik on the D8, crosses the Pelješac Bridge at Ploče, and joins the A1 motorway for the 180-km run to Split. The Split bypass loops around the city and the route continues 25 km north to Trogir. The Split Airport (SPU) exit is just before Trogir itself, so airport drop-offs are 5 minutes off the highway.
Trogir’s UNESCO-listed Old Town sits on a small island between the mainland and the Čiovo peninsula, connected by two short bridges. Medieval stone lanes converge on the Cathedral of St Lawrence (Radovan Portal is the signature Romanesque sculpture), Kamerlengo Castle on the western point, and the Riva waterfront. The old town is fully pedestrian — our driver drops at the nearest road access, usually the parking on the mainland side. Trogir is small (you can walk it in an hour) and pairs well with Čiovo peninsula beaches for a longer stay. For onward: Split 25 km east (30 min), Split Airport (SPU) 5 km east (5 min), island ferries from Split port to Brač, Hvar, and šolta.
FlixBus runs Dubrovnik→Trogir via Split, taking 4–5 hours with a change, €20–30 per person. Rental cars work on the motorway. Private transfer is door-to-door, optional Ston oysters + Pelješac wine stops on the way, and for SPU-airport-bound guests we recommend a 3.5-hour buffer before international check-in.
Everything specific to this route.
