About the Mostar to Budva transfer

Mostar to Budva is Herzegovina’s direct route to Montenegro’s main beach resort — 220 km through Trebinje and across the Montenegrin border to the Budva Riviera. About 3h 20m direct, one border. Most bookings are one-way for travellers continuing a Balkan itinerary with Adriatic beach time in Montenegro.

The route itself

Your driver leaves Mostar south through Herzegovina past Trebinje — Bosnia’s southernmost stone town with famous wineries (Tvrdoš monastery, Vukoje, Podrum Milanović). The Montenegrin border at Deleuša / Vrac takes 5–15 minutes. On the Montenegrin side the road descends through Nikšić (Montenegro’s second-largest city, famous for Nikšićko pivo beer and the Manastir Ostrog pilgrimage site en route) or via Podgorica down to the coast. The Sozina Tunnel (4.2 km) finally delivers you to the Budva Riviera.

Optional stops worth adding

Trebinje for a 30–60 minute coffee in the plane-tree square or wine tasting at Tvrdoš monastery cellar. Ostrog Monastery (UNESCO tentative list) — one of the most important Orthodox pilgrimage sites in the region, carved into a cliff face — is a 45-minute inland detour near Nikšić. Kotor Old Town for UNESCO-listed walled city sightseeing (1 hour detour north from Budva).

Arrival in Budva

Budva’s tiny walled Stari Grad (Old Town) on its rocky peninsula is the centre, with the Slovenska plaža (Slovenian Beach) main strip stretching 1.5 km east and Mogren Beach tucked into cliffs on the west. Sveti Stefan island-hotel (Aman property) is 10 km south — the postcard photo spot from the coast road. For onward: Kotor 22 km north, Tivat Airport (TIV) 25 km north, Podgorica 65 km inland.
