About the Split to Tuzla transfer

Split to Tuzla is a 340-km cross-border transfer from Croatia’s Dalmatian capital to north-east Bosnia’s third-largest city on the edge of the Pannonian plain. About 5 hours direct, one border crossing (Kamensko or Brčko depending on routing). Tuzla is best known for the Panonica salt lakes (urban bathing in authentic saltwater, unique in Europe), as birthplace of Yugoslav novelist Meša Selimović, and as gateway to Srebrenica for visits to the Potočari Memorial Centre.

The route itself

The A1 motorway north from Split to the Bosnian border at Kamensko, then through central Bosnia via Livno and Travnik before turning north-east at Kakanj and running via Olovo to Tuzla. An alternative via Sarajevo adds 45 minutes but allows a Sarajevo cultural stop.

Arrival in Tuzla

Drop-off at your address. Must-see: Trg Slobode, Panonska Jezera salt lakes (May-September), Eastern Bosnia Museum, Hussein Paša Mosque (1888). Tuzla International Airport (TZL) is 14 km south-east — a Wizz Air hub for Western European connections.
