Heading to Dubrovnik? Bled to Dubrovnik reverses this route from the Alps back to the Adriatic.
Book Bled → Dubrovnik →Dubrovnik to Bled is one of our longest transfers — 650 km from the Adriatic to Slovenia’s alpine postcard lake. About 7 hours on motorway, two Schengen-internal border crossings (Croatia, Slovenia). Most bookings are for travellers combining Dalmatian coast holiday with 1–2 nights at Bled before flying home from Ljubljana Airport (LJU) 35 km south.
Your driver heads north from Dubrovnik over the Pelješac Bridge onto the A1 motorway. The A1 runs up Croatia’s coast to Zagreb (600 km), then transitions to the A3 west toward Slovenia. The Bregana / Obrežje border is a passport-only Schengen check. On the Slovenian side, the A2 motorway runs past Ljubljana, onto the A1 north to Kranj, and ends near Lesce just before Bled. The Slovenian motorway vignette is included in your transfer price.
Bled is Slovenia’s most photographed destination — a 475-metre glacial lake with a small island in the middle (Bled Island with the Assumption of Mary church, accessible by traditional pletna boat) and an 11th-century cliff-top castle (Bled Castle) on the northern shore. The Julian Alps frame the horizon on clear days. Our driver drops at your hotel (Vila Bled, Grand Hotel Toplice, and the Park Hotel are the classics on the lake). Must-do: the 6 km lake walk, pletna boat to the island, cream cake at Park Hotel (kremsnita — Bled’s signature dessert since 1953). For onward: Ljubljana 55 km south, Kranjska Gora 40 km north, Vintgar Gorge 4 km north (closed Nov–March).
No direct bus. Bus Dubrovnik→Ljubljana + train/bus to Bled takes 12+ hours. No direct flight. Rental car covers it but 7 hours driving with vignettes and two borders is demanding. Private transfer is door-to-door, handles all tolls and vignettes, and many guests split the journey over two days (e.g., Dubrovnik → Zagreb overnight → Bled).
Everything specific to this route.
About 7 hours (650 km). No border crossings (Croatia and Slovenia are both EU/Schengen). With stops, plan for 8–9 hours.
No passport checks. Croatia and Slovenia are both in the Schengen zone. You may see a former border post but you drive straight through.
Yes—the park is along the route. A 30-minute viewpoint stop is free; entering the park costs about €30 in peak season and a full visit takes 3–4 hours.
It's a full day, but the drive is on motorways, the vehicle is comfortable with A/C and and stops break it up. The scenery changes constantly. Many clients prefer it to multiple connections.
Yes. Early flights work best for this route. We meet you at arrivals and head straight north.
A fairy-tale alpine lake with a tiny island church and a medieval castle on the cliff above. Swim in the lake, row to the island, walk the castle ramparts, or eat the famous Bled cream cake.
"What a day. Mediterranean morning, Plitvice in the afternoon, alpine sunset at Bled. The driver handled everything perfectly. Better than any tour package."
"We stopped in Split for a walk through Diocletian's Palace and at Plitvice for the viewpoint. Arrived at Bled at dusk—the lake was glowing. An unforgettable transfer."
"Long drive but our driver made it easy. Clean car, cold drinks, great playlist. Bled is even more beautiful than the photos. Worth every kilometre."
